Reflexology is a safe and natural way to restore and enhance vitality and well being

Reflexology

Moreton in Marsh

Reflexology is a complementary therapy based on the principle that reflex points on the soles, tops, and sides of the feet correspond to different areas of the body. In this way, the feet can be seen as a ‘map’ of the body. By applying specialised massage techniques to specific reflex points – using the thumbs, fingers and knuckles – it can help to relieve anxiety and tension, encourage relaxation, improve mood and aid sleep, though some people use it to help them cope with more specific health challenges. Reflexology is often used alongside conventional medical care, and can be a highly effective means of supporthelping the body to cope with aggressive forms of medical treatments such as chemotherapy.

Some Benefits of Reflexology

Foot Reflexology

Relieve Stress and Tension

Seventy five percent of disease of the body and mind is estimated to be stress related.

Reflexology has a deeply relaxing effect on the recipient.

If we can take charge and manage our stress levels, we can help

reduce the likelihood of becoming

seriously ill

Stimulate Blood Circulation

In order to work efficiently, the body’s cells and organs need energy in the form of oxygen and nutrients. These are transported by the blood. By stimulating blood circulation we increase the efficiency of all organs and cells

Release Trapped Nervous Energy

There are more than 7,000 nerve endings in each foot; these are all stimulated during a reflexology treatment improving neural efficiency.

The nervous system communicates with the endocrine system via the hypothalamus, when energy is flowing freely between these systems, the whole body benefits

Re-balance the Body’s Systems

A balanced body and mind knows how to heal itself. Imbalances can occur through stress, illness, accident, disease or poor lifestyle choices.

Reflexology can help overcome years of neglect.

Homeostasis is the body’s need to reach and maintain a certain state of equilibrium, it is only in this balanced state that it can thrive and flourish

Improve Waste Removal

During a reflexology treatment your lymphatic, digestive and urinary systems will all be stimulated. Clearing blocks and restoring natural flow encourages  efficient waste elimination, which is vital to building a healthy

immune system

Balance Hormones

A balanced endocrine system improves just about every aspect

of your life.

You can experience: more energy, less stress/anxiety, elevated mood, sharper mind, and a deep, restful, rejuvenating nights sleep.

In addition to reflexology, regular exercise and a healthy diet are also key components to the optimal functioning of the endocrine system

About me

I trained at the Cotswold Academy in Cirencester, and am a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT). I have been trained to a high, nationally recognised standard (ITEC Level 3 diploma in Reflexology) and I am bound by the FHT Code of Practice & Ethics. My learning continues each year whilst practising through Continuing Professional Development. I am fully insured to practice.

Self care is vital for emotional and physical well being, and I follow the advice I give to my clients. Many of us spend large amounts of our time, either at work or home, nurturing and caring for others. I believe it is absolutely vital to do the same for ourselves, reminding us just how special we are. I enjoy having regular reflexology treatments, acupuncture, massages, gong baths, walking and gardening – making time to connect with nature.

Treatments

How Frequently and What to Expect

What to expect

Our first meeting will start with a full consultation. I will ask you various questions about your health and lifestyle, to ensure that reflexology is right for you. You will be required to sign a treatment consent form.

For the treatment itself you will remain fully clothed, simply removing your shoes and socks. You will be invited to relax on a very comfortable reclining zero gravity reflexology chair, and offered a blanket (or two) to keep you nice a cosy during your treatment. I will gently cleanse your feet with cotton wool and surgical spirit. I will light a candle, and play relaxing background music. An appropriate reflexology wax or oil will be applied to help provide a free-flowing treatment, and then I will start gently massaging and stretching your feet and ankles.

As the treatment progresses, a variety of different reflexology techniques will be used to ‘work’ the reflex points on each foot, including a caterpillar-like movement called ‘thumb walking’. The areas treated and pressure applied will be adapted to suit your individual needs.

.

Any questions you may have can be answered as we go along, or at the end if you prefer to ‘switch off’ during the treatment.

Each appointment lasts approximately an hour, with the treatment itself taking a minimum of 45 minutes.

Frequency

Each reflexology treatment is a deeply relaxing experience in itself, and can be enjoyed as a ‘one off treat’ anytime you feel the need to forget your worries, re-focus your mind and re-charge your ‘batteries’.

However, in order for you to reap maximum health benefits from reflexology, an initial 6 weekly course is recommended, followed by regular maintenance treatments (depending on your budget) every 4 weeks or so. For support with a medical condition, weekly treatments are most effective – this can all be discussed in advance, or during your initial consultation.

Directions

Coming from Chipping Norton direction

Over the railway bridge – pass the pedestrian lights – pass the right turn to the station and car park – as soon as the black railings on your left finish, make a sharp left turn back on yourself- my house is there on the corner as you turn.

Coming from Stow direction

Over the first mini roundabout, then right at the next one towards Chipping Norton. Then take the first right turn which forks off the main road, that is Oxford Street (south side) – my house is there on the right as you turn.

Coming from Evesham direction

Turn left at the first mini roundabout, then right at the next one towards Chipping Norton. Then take the first right turn which forks off the main road, that is Oxford Street (south side) – my house is there on the right as you turn.

Coming from Shipston-on-Stour direction

Over the railway bridge, pass the Co-op on your left, pass the pedestrian lights and turn left at the mini roundabout towards Chipping Norton. Then take the first right turn which forks off the main road, that is Oxford Street (south side) – my house is there on the right as you turn.

The Oxford Street sign is ‘planted’ in my front garden, and there is a path leading up to my front door. If there is a space, you can park on the road opposite my house (it is wide enough for cars to pass, even though it doesn’t look like it). To the right of the front door is a side gate with arched stonework and a wrought iron grille above. Ring the door bell there (you need to push quite hard, as it is very temperamental!). I will come and meet you. Any problems please call me on 07977265577
